THE NOTCH HOUSE

The Notch House is a contemporary coastal home with a very sharp point of view. From above, the composition is clean and deliberate. Low rooflines stretch across the site; the pool and terrace run parallel to the house; and two unique notches cut into the form, helping to give the project a dramatic entrance and overall identity.

 

Set on PEI’s south shore, the house makes the most of its position through glass, light, and careful control of space. The notch creates a pause in the middle of the plan and gives the architecture a clear focal point, with a tree set to rise through the opening and sky visible from deep within the home. Around it, the rooms open wide to the landscape, and the larger walls of glass keep the horizon in view throughout the day.

 

The project also knows how to handle the ground around it. The detached garage sits comfortably apart from the main volume, the landscaping feels intentional, and the pool area extends the architecture into the site seamlessly. The Notch House is a collection of bold design decisions, and each one earns its place.
