Perched above the bay in Stanhope, PEI, the Gulf Shore House is a large-scale custom build that earns every square foot. Craftsman Construction executed the home in classic cedar shingle cladding with a standing seam metal roof, a combination that feels at home on the Island while carrying a distinctly contemporary edge.
Inside, the scale is immediately apparent. A soaring great room with exposed timber trusses and a full-height stone fireplace anchors the main living space, which flows openly into the kitchen and dining areas. The detailing throughout is precise and deliberate, from the concrete-topped island and herringbone tile entry, to the reclaimed wood mudroom wall and custom millwork that runs through the home.
The rear of the home is where the site really takes over. A full wall of glazing faces the bay, and a covered outdoor living area with stone terracing steps down toward the water, making the back of the house feel as much like a destination as any room inside.
