THE AMBER HOUSE

A Kennebecasis River estate built to glow at golden hour.

The name came naturally. Stand on the property at the right time of day and the red cedar shingles glow with the sun. Craftsman Construction built this one on the banks of the Kennebecasis in Rothesay, and the result is one of the more visually distinctive homes in the portfolio.

From the street, stone entrance pillars mark the driveway, the roofline moves through dormers and peaks with refinement. A mix of cedar and stone on the exterior lands somewhere between formal and comfortable. A house that looks better the longer you stand in front of it.

An infinity pool sits flush with the riverbank behind the home, the water line calibrated so the pool and the Kennebecasis read as one continuous surface. Next to it, a circular rotunda with a cedar-panelled ceiling open on all sides to the river. A space that on a still evening is truly difficult to walk away from.

Inside, the attention shifts from the river to the details. The millwork, the finishes, lighting and material choices provide a cohesive feel. All built to the same standard as the exterior, which on a property like this, matters.
